Description: A battle of gigantic proportions is looming in the neon underground of New York City. The army of the night numbers 100,000 strong, and tonight they're all after The Warriors- a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader. The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warriors and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members. The army of gangs owns the streets and there's no turning back, The Warriors must fight for their lives and learn the meaning of loyalty as danger and uncertainty emerges from the city night.
Rockstar Games proudly presents a PlayStation 2 game based on Walter Hill's 1979 cult film The Warriors. As in the film, the storyline of the game takes place at night, underground, in the sub-culture of gang warfare that rages from Coney Island to Manhattan to the Bronx. This game is as intense and stylized as the cult film it pays homage to.
The game is currently being released on the PS2 only, though a PC version is very likely. It is also interesting to note that it has been given a preliminary 18 certificate in the UK! Some pretty hardcore violence methinks!
As usual, stay up to date with the latest, right here!

After hearing whispers of Rockstar's take on cult movie The Warriors for what seems like years, we've finally got hold of some solid details of what the PS2 and Xbox title will entail.
Not only that, we've also uncovered the first ever shots of the game in action (albeit in dodgy scanned-in-from-a-magazine stylee).
The shots in question have been hosted by a Warriors fan site and are taken from the new issue of US mag Game Informer.
The images aren't of the highest quality but they do give you a good feel for the aesthetic of the game, which appears to retain the feel of the original 1979 gang warfare film, while combining it with more of a Manhunt-style edge.
You can view the shots - until Rockstar inevitably order them to be removed - by clicking here.
The game's plot actually acts as a prequel to the narrative of the original flick (a remade version of which is due for release next year), which follows New York gang The Warriors as they attempt to escape from the enemy turf of the Upper Bronx back to their home territory of Coney Island, without getting their heads kicked in.
Players take on the role of a member of the posse who is attempting to prove his worth, via the medium of GTA-style free-roaming environments and unmitigated violence.
The combat will centre mostly on beat-'em-up-esque fisticuffs rather than firearms, with an array of different fighting styles on offer. (The Way of the Broken Bottle, anyone?)
We're hoping to see more of the game at E3. We will, as ever, keep you posted.
