Berserk (PS2)

#1

Her er trailerene:
Trailer 1
Trailer 2
Trailer 3
Trailer 4
Trailer 5
Trailer 6
Trailer 7

I went out on a limb and bought the new Berserk PS2 game by Sammy. I'm not at all knowledgeable about the anime or the manga, but I do enjoy waving big swords around. Anyway, some notes.

- I set it to hard mode (of easy, normal, hard, and very hard) and it is fucking HARD. The enemies are endless and will surround you and fuck you up. That lays to rest my first worry about this game, that it would be too easy.

- Controls are as follows:
square: attack
triangle: power attack or finisher (I'll get to that)
circle: dash (between every dash you can do either a normal attack, a special attack, or dash again, for a maximum of three times, then you have to rest)
x: block (push it right before the attack to counter, or right after to take the attack and counter anyway
L1: hold to change to duel mode (sword out front, facing the enemy), useful for bosses
L2: turn RAGE!!!1 mode on and off. In RAGE!!!1 mode, you have no recovery time and are unblockable.
R1: ready weapons (boomstick, throwing knife, autocrossbow, bomb)
R2: ready allies (each of them has some special ability, the only one I have right now is Pak the wisecracking eunich elf, who heals me)

- Except for the aformentioned duel mode, the game is designed to have you fighting from every direction at once. No matter which direction you are facing you can continue a combo in another direction, the animations blend very well.

- Your weapons and allies have a certain amount of "ammo", it is refilled by killing things. Mysterious, isn't it?

- If you have a high enough hit combo, triangle will activate a finisher on the nearest enemy. Finishers look cool, and are unique to each type of enemy, or to each boss in the event of a boss fight (though they do not finish bosses in one hit). They usually involve stabbing it in the fucking face with your sword, if it has a face.

- Counters in boss fights (whether you or they trigger them) result in a unique, long and incredibly cool animation. It is also possible to avoid the counter hit, but I don't understand how.

- There are a bunch of parameters to level up, but "sword speed" is so fucking expensive exp-wise, and it's what is killing me! I guess I shouldn't expect any different, carrying around a sword like that.

So anyway, I'm stuck on the first boss until I get used to swinging this thing around better. So far I'm having a blast, though I might end up setting the difficulty back down to normal...
Høres jo greit nok ut.
