The following things have happened since Duke Nukem Forever was announced:
  • Square, another studio famous for delays, has released Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XII. 21 games have been released with the Final Fantasy name.
  • The entire Grand Theft Auto franchise.
  • The entire Quake franchise.
  • The entire Unreal franchise.
  • The entire Half-Life franchise.
  • Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess. A total of 15 games have been released in the Zelda franchise.
  • The entire The Sims franchise.
  • Every Massive Multiplayer Online game and expansion.
  • The entire Pokemon franchise.
  • Every installment of Metal Gear Solid.
  • Aside from Wolfenstein 3D, every single First Person Shooter based during World War II, including the entire Medal of Honor series.
  • The concept of Bullet Time has been developed, pioneered, and completely run in to the ground.
  • Six Harry Potter Books have been released, and five films produced.
  • Over 220 episodes of 'The Simpsons' have been produced and aired.
  • Microsoft released 5 consumer-oriented versions of Windows including the long overdue Vista.
Things that have taken less time than Duke Nukem Forever's Development:
  • The Beatles formed, released every single one of their albums and broke up. During this time they also toured the world several times.
  • World War I and World War II combined.
When Duke Nukem Forever was announced:
  • The fastest processor available to consumers was a 233Mhz Pentium.
  • MP3 players and DVD players were non-existant in the US.
  • The fastest consumer internet connection was a 33.6 kbps modem. On average, consumer internet connections are 300 times faster today.
  • Games were still being released on Super Nintendo.

Hvis Hertug Sprengdem Foralltid ble annonsert i 1997, hadde Quake I vært ute i nesten ett år allerede. HAH.

Er ikke meningen å sette nok en bulk i den lista di, men Meridian 59, som av mange kalles det første, ekte MMORPGet, ble utgitt allerede i 1995.
Men ellers er det en feiende flott liste.
