Rainbow Six Vegas

#1
Gamesradar:

Las Vegas, held hostage by a terrorist threat of global proportions, becomes the theater of operations for the ace shooter squad. Stalk down the world famous Vegas strip, clearing brilliant casinos and extravagant resorts in search of the enemies of freedom.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas will be released this Fall 2006, which will effectively make this "The Year of the Clancy" as it completes the triumvirate with Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent.

Fant litt mer informasjon fra spillet å TeamXbox forumet:

A couple of posts from the R6: Vegas forums have revealed details from EGM's April issue.

Quote:
These new detials were posted by SFLUFAN over on the IGN boards and is information from the next issue of EGM magazine

Here are the facts:

- the game has been in development for nearly 2 years now
- after the debacle known as Suckdown...I mean Lockdown, development was taken away from Red Storm and given to Ubi-Montreal
- you will play as one character, don't ask me his name because I didn't care to remember it - all I remember is that it was some generic tough-guy white man name (Ding Chavez does make a return though)
- you will have 2 or 3 teammates who will have unique (ie, "cliche") personalities
- the game will be presented using the "Half-Life" (yes that is exactly what they said) style of storytelling using only the first-person perspective and no cutscenes (not that there were very many cutscenes in the previous games anyway)
- the game will have lots of destructability/interactivity in the environments and you will be able to do stuff like rappel down the sides of buildings and fast-rope out of choppers
- it appears that there will be no pre-mission planning phase (just like Suckdown) rather you will issue commands "on-the-fly" (like in Raven Shield)
- it will be a more "cinematic" presentation as your teammates will engage in conversations and ARGUE during the missions

Let me stop right there for a second. Conversations? ARGUE? These are elite counterterrorist operatives. They don't argue or converse with one another on a mission. Do you know what happens in real life if you "converse" or "argue" on a mission such as this? YOU ****ING DIE - THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU!!!

- game is not using any form of the Unreal engine that previous R6 games used nor is it using the GR:AW engine, it's using its own graphics engine.

And here is the kicker that about caused me to laugh/cry/vomit/scream simultaneously was I was reading the article at Borders:

THE GAME WILL FEATURE A "HALO-STYLE" HEALTH SYSTEM WHERE YOU WILL RECOVER YOUR HEALTH IF YOU STAY OUT OF THE ACTION FOR A BIT!!!

and this from JFresh1985

Ok, I just picked up this issue this morning and yes everyting this guy was saying is correct, plus im gonna add some more direct quotes and some clarification on the ones he listed from the article, so lets begin...

"So, what should you expect? Less dying, for one: The Team is adding a Halo-style health system, whereby avoiding fire will give you time to heal, meaning you'll ultimately spend less time picking "Retry Mission" from a menu screen."

"Ubisoft has brought the new game back in-house at Rainbow Six 3's original studio in Montreeal and has thrown a team of 150 people at the title, wich has been in development since 2004."

"Gameplay will be very cat-and-mouse, kills will not come easy."

"Blind fire and "no look" suppressing fire will be important components as well; the action switches to a third-person, over-the-shoulder camera during these moments, much like in 360 launch title Perfect Dark Zero."

"As mentioned before, the game is also no longer limited to solid ground. With so much of Las Vegas towering some 80 stories above street level, the city provides countless opportunities to scale up and rappel down buildings. Standard rappelling, fast roping (quickly sliding down a rope, slowing the fall with only clenched hands), and inverted rappelling (also known as Australian rappelling)"
