We already hooked you up with an exclusive preview of THQ's upcoming Saints Row, and nothing has changed from what we saw last week at the THQ office to the E3 show floor today. But we did sit down with Volition Vice President Dan Cermak and get the first details on the much-anticipated online modes of Saints Row.
Online play is, in the words of Anchorman Ron Burgundy, "kind of a big deal" for Saints Row, considering Xbox Live is really the only thing that separates the game from being another "GTA clone." Cermak hates that term, by the way, because he is making a deeper, more immersive open-world game than GTA. He compared it to Doom. After the release of the hugely popular first-person shooter, every other FPS that followed was labeled a "Doom clone." Eventually, however, "Doom clones" became a bona fide genre with titles like Far Cry and Half Life. Whereas GTA was groundbreaking with a huge open world and non-linear gameplay, Cermak thinks Rockstar's franchise is just the beginning of an open-world genre. With games like Crackdown and Mass Effect on the way, Cermak is probably right.
But open world or not, a game where you jack cars and shoot gang members will inevitably draw comparisons to a certain Rockstar franchise, as it's up to a new online mode to separate Saints Row. Thankfully, these modes sound interesting and fun and keep the same dirty humor that Saints Row is becoming known for. After all, this game has a fast-food chain called Freckle Bitches with a combo meal called The Fist (slogan: Come to Freckle Bitches and get fisted!).
So here we go. When you create a character in the single-player game using the hefty creation feature, you can bring him online via Xbox Live. But none of the cool bling you accumulate in the single-player game carries over. You start out in a basic outfit and earn cooler and cooler gear and bling as you spend more time online and kill people. You can immediately tell which player is good at Saints Row because he looks like a freaking baller. From the lobby, you will choose one of six gamemodes that will support 12 online players. There will be a clan-like system where you form your own gangs -- just choose your color.
There's the obligatory, every-man-for-himself deathmatch as well as six-on-six team deathmatch. Then there's Protect the Pimp, a team-based game in which one team has to escort a pimp to a designated part of the city; the other team is charged with killing said pimp. The player-controlled pimp carries only a cane and is dressed outrageously and walks with pimp-like swagger. The cane is used as a melee weapon and is one-shot-one-kill.
Big Ass Chains is a game mode in which every player starts out with a gold bling chain. When you are killed, your chain falls to the ground and the other player steals it, so he has two chains. You can kill a bunch of people and load up on chains, but if you are killed before reaching the jewelry store, you lose all of your chains. The goal is to sell the chains for points, and the player that reaches a designated score first wins.
Bling My Ride is a driving based game in which you have to protect your tricked-out ride from other gangsters. At the same time, you try to destroy enemy tricked-out-rides and with each hit, the value of the car decreases.
Obviously there's a lot of replay value in these modes if they prove to be fun. The idea of a persistent character in this genre is a good one, and we like the idea of bling and clothes acting as a walking, in-game leaderboard.
Volition expects the demo from E3, which features the first few missions in the game on the Saints home turf, to be available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace sometime this July. We'll have more on Saints Row as the title approaches release. In the meantime, go get fisted.

Jeg har lagt ut alle HDTV-trailerne jeg fant til XBOX 360 på journalen min nå. Alt er hosted av spillegal så man slipper å være registrert og man får bra hastighet.

Det var meningen det skulle komme til Xbox 360, men det står ikke engang nevnt på hjemmesiden til spillet.
Kan huske jeg leste på en side at det også skulle komme til 360, men kan ikke finne noen sider der det nevnes. Hmm...

Jeg ble faktisk litt imponert over Lost Planet demoen, og koste meg virkelig. Det skal dog sies at det er første gang nå idag at jeg har testet ut Xbox 360 i ekte HD oppløsning, så jeg er kanskje bare litt hypet opp etter å ha sett forskjellen mellom vanlig TV og HDTV. Noe som var større enn forventet. Men synes våpenene var heftige, kontrollen satt som et skudd, god lyd, varierte og store fiender/bosser, så det er absolutt et spill jeg kommer til å følge med på videre.
Over til noe annet. Har ikke Capcom vist frem noe som helt av Resident Evil 5 på årets E3?

Just Cause videopresentasjon - del 1
E3: Just Cause: Presentation part 1
Except for some not so great screenshots here and there we knew until now next to nothing about Just Cause, the third person shooter from Eidos. So it's with great pleasure that I show you the first part of a long presentation of the game, done with a work-in-progress 360 version. Prepare to be impressed.
Let's recap first. Just Cause let's you play the role of an american special agent, with the mission to bring peace in a country composed of islands. Yes, all by himself. It doesn't seem that incredible, but keep in mind that the country is big, *really* big. Just Cause also uses a non-linear mission system like GTA3, which is good since there are many of them. And the very nice fact is that your character can do some pretty awesome and completely unrealistic things. He's not a super-hero, but some of the stuff he can do is borderline crazy. This is one of our biggest surprise for this E3.
As mentioned before, this is still a very much work-in-progress version requiring a lot of polishing. The pop-in/clipping/shadowing issues will of course be fixed in the final version.

X360 hacket. Jepp, til tross for at dette skulle være den sikreste konsollen i historien har det skjedd. Det er til og med relativt enkelt. Ingen chip er nødvendig.
