While there are literally no details to speak of (namely what platform the game will release on and when), the recent interview does confirm RE5 development and also implies that the same changes that went into RE4 would carry over to RE5.
From Hiroyuki Kobayashi's own mouth, "We are going to do a Resident Evil 5, of course, but as for exactly what it will be like...that's something we're busy thinking about right now... [RE4] is the start of a new story line. In other words, when you think of it that way, then it's safe to say that RE5 will naturally proceed from where RE4 left off."

Hiroyuki Kobayashi has recently spoken to Electronic Gaming Monthly and has confirmed that Resident Evil 5. People who have played Resident Evil 4 will tell you that the ending leaves the series open for another game.
Not much is known at the moment, and that's not an exaggeration. No consoles, release date or even game characters have been announced, and the only think that has been said about the game is below.
"We are going to do a RE5, of course, but as for exactly what it will be like...that's what we're busy thinking about right now. The first four games-1,2,3 and CV, were more or less the story of Umbrella. RE4 takes place six years after those games, and Umbrella's been completely destroyed; this is the start of a new story line, in other words. When you think of it that way, then it's safe to say that RE5 will naturally proceed where RE4 left off. If you play through everything RE4 has to offer, I think you will get a taste of how this progression will work. I'll leave the rest up to your imagination."
While it is not known when more details will be available, however if more details are not revealed at E3 Capcom clearly don't know what they're doing.
